WRACK

My journey with this small boat began by chance with a walk on Glassilaun beach in Co Galway in 2014. The journey ended in 2018.

As the rowboat sits neglected and abandoned, it faces the relentless forces of erosion. Erosion can be thought of as nature's way of reshaping the world around us. In this case wind and water and sand are the primary agents of erosion, wearing away at both land and man-made structures. In the case of the wrecked rowboat, rainwater seeping into its cracks hastens the decay even further, and the wind slowly erodes its dried, splintered remains. Over time, erosion can completely reshape the shoreline, causing coastlines and landforms to undergo substantial changes.
